Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim greets supporters after he was acquited from his sodomy charge outside the High Court on January 9, 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Anwar Ibrahim, 64, was aquitted today on charges he sodomized a former aide, Saiful then aged 23, in 2008 . Judge Zabidin Mohama Diah, said the court was unable to prove that DNA evidence submitted was not comprimised and dismissed the charges.

The acquitted opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomy charges in a surprise ruling that could accelerate the political comeback of one of Asia's most celebrated reformers ahead of an expected election this year.

This is the slideshow of the story that i work on during the 2011 Angkor Photo Workshop. The story is about an Imam; Haji Ismail (The word imam is an Arabic word that means “leader.” Thus Imam is an Islamic leadership position, often the worship leader of a mosque and the Muslim community.) I was grateful to meet Haji Ismail who is a community leader, husband, father and also a volunteer Ustaz (teacher) to the villager children at his community.What i most respect about him is that even though he does not get anything (no salary, no allowances, no title nothing at all) he is still doing his job as best as he can as he believes, Allah (God) will rewards him later on Day of Judgement (death afterlife) world insha’Allah..

Many great photographers I had met had one thing in common; they add value to other people's lives.

Bonjour! I just want to share a good news which is I was selected to be one of the participant in the 2011 Angkor Photo Workshop held at Siem Reap, Cambodia this year November. To be frank, I applied for it for many years and thankfully I made the cut this year. And it was definitely worth the wait as I had the most awesome experience and on top of that I’m proud to be the only Malaysian among other Asia countries participants. And of course I would say that I was totally blessed for having really good tutors; the amazing and talented Justin Mott and Carolyn O’Neill. As tutors they helped and guide me to capture that perfect shots and give me the kick to move upwards and expending my skills, thinking, and awareness to ensure that I will have great pieces of images that’s not only impactful but most importantly it project a story.

I was grateful to meet Haji Ismail who is a community leader, husband, father and also a teacher to the villager children at his community. For this story I was able to experience their life by living in their village and staying with Haji Ismail’s family on floating village of Tonle Sap, Siem Reap. I stayed for couple of nights to observe and understand their way of life and at the same time to create a better relationship with him, his family and also the community. I have to say that it’s not easy to tap on people’s life and to make them trust you, its would normally takes years however after days of spending time with Haji Ismail and explain to him my intention of the story, he slowly started to understand and open up to the idea of being photographed.

He later on invited me to stay at his house and I didn’t pause to say Yes. I packed my back right away and ready to hit the floating house!

And here is some of my checklist items ; canon 5d + 35mm + 20-35 + 85mm, my charger and laptop since my old battery cant stand longer than few hours and I only have 1 2gb and 1 4gb cf card and by shooting raw i don’t think it is enough for me. My loyal hp with a prepaid from Bee line, my green traveller wallet, VitaminC ( I've been feeling under the weather since I arrived), my favorite Quake bar (Just enough to fill my empty stomach) , 2 headlights (1 belong to Sofian Hamid, thanks man!), mp3 player (earphoneless as now it belong to his son :)) Angkor Photo Festival leaflet (tips: it’s a great tool to explain to the people), mineral water(it’s so humid there) and moleskine notepad a gift from my lovely gf.

This is a view from the mosque and too bad his house is not in the picture hehe… but most of the muslim family living in this area.

i have to say this kinda kuih Popiah is really delicious. Made by his lovely wife. I finished it all by myself haha..

even fans' lens pun lagi panjang.
but there's no excuses because photo is needs to be captured.
apapun perlawanan separuh akhir pertama tersebut telah
dimenangi oleh Malaysia dengan agregat 2-0 dan
hopefully pasukan Harimau Malaya ini berjaya ke final
untuk bertemu dengan Indonesia sekali lagi.

2010 Thaipusam Festival - Malaysia

Some one million Hindu devotees and tourists thronged the Sri Subramaniyar Swami Temple in Batu Caves, Selangor in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival. Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil Month. It is also referred to as Thaipooyam in the Malayalam language. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest Son of God Shiva and his wife Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. Advice for young photographers

Its been quite a long time i didnt manage post anything. Quite busy lately.. :) its just an excused anyway kan. Did a few assignments for the past 2-3 weeks and still got another assignment in hand for a website from Japan and have to finish it before i leave to Bangkok and Cambodia. Anyhow, here i just want to share an article from Michael Kamber especially to those who are interested to become a photojournalist in a future. Good Luck! :-)

I am writing this from the Baghdad bureau of The New York Times where I am on assignment.

I have received dozens of queries from photojournalists starting out in the business. I am writing this in response, partly so I can refer others to it in the future and not spend time on lengthy replies.

Some beginners ask for advice on gear, others on how to get started finding assignments and selling their work. I will describe my own path into photojournalism here and give some general advice that may be useful.

This is not definitive in any way. It is simply my experience and opinion formulated from twenty years experience as a photojournalist. No doubt others can weigh in and improve this with their comments and ideas.

I started as a photojournalist by going to art school. I thought I would be a fine art or landscape photographer, but I took a photojournalism course and was quickly hooked. When my money ran out after a year, I dropped out of school, but continued to work as a teaching assistant for photojournalism classes. I may have learned more in this way than I did as a student. I received no credit, but photography is a meritocracy. In over 20 years, I have never been asked for my degree; in the world of photojournalism, your portfolio is your degree.

I also learned a great deal from spending days in the library, reading about photojournalism and looking up, and discovering, each new name that I chanced upon. In this way I found Robert Capa, Robert Frank, Larry Clark, Alex Webb and dozens of others.

If you are going to be a photojournalist, you should have a good working knowledge of the history of photojournalism, and of the medium’s iconic images. You can show me nearly any often published photograph from the 20th century and I can tell you who took it and where. I’ve studied the pictures carefully and memorized details about them. This is extremely useful and will help you later as you shoot.

As you study images, you should think about where the photographer is in relation to the subjects, study how he or she has managed the light and the angle of the camera. Is the photo effective because it is compressed with a telephoto, or opened up with a wide-angle lens? And how did they get access, how will you gain access to a similar situation?

I believe that the written word, still photos and film are connected. Artists in the above disciplines are telling stories, whatever the medium. It is important for those in one area to study the work of documentarians and artists in the others. At the bottom of this page is a list of recommended writers, photographers and filmmakers—all personal favorites.

To be a photojournalist, you should be informed. I’m was appalled at a group of photographers who showed up in Haiti a few years ago, but did not know who the Duvalier’s were, or know even the most rudimentary history of the country. These countries are not there for you to practice photo-tourism and have an extended holiday. These are people’s lives you are documenting. Be knowledgeable and show respect.

At the very least, you should read the front page or lead web stories each day from either the Washington Post, LA Times or NY Times. The New Yorker has the best long-form journalism in the English language. I read it every week.

A second language is probably the most important skill you can acquire—far more important that the latest camera gear or a diploma from a photo school. It takes time, but you should speak at least basic French or Spanish in addition to English. Arabic, or a language spoken in China, would be an excellent choice also, especially as I write this in 2007.

I began my “career” by photographing street demonstrations in New York and taking the pictures around to newspapers and wire services. There was easy access to what was happening, which is important when you’re starting out. And even the pictures I was not able to sell helped me to build a portfolio. I also began, almost immediately, to work on long-term projects.

I cannot overstate the importance of long-term projects. Rather than run around taking hundreds of pictures of dozens of subjects, it is much better to spend a few weeks or a month with a family, or a group of people and get to know them. Your pictures will reveal your commitment as subjects become comfortable with you. Choose your projects carefully. There are hundreds of important projects out there waiting to be discovered and photographed. Photo editors know the commitment behind this kind of in-depth work, and they respect it. A good photo-essay on one project will be remembered and will help to get you assignments.

You are going to have to promote yourself and your work. If you’re afraid of rejection, find another line of work. You have to take your work around, or send it out to editors constantly. Most will turn you away. That’s the nature of the business. Get used to it and don’t take it personally. I was crushed in 1985 when Fred McDarrah, an editor at The Village Voice, spent 30 seconds flipping through a portfolio I had spent months creating, then dismissed me with a flip of his hand. It took me a long time to get my courage up again, but I eventually did “break in” to The Village Voice, then a major photo publication.

So you must be persistent. And remember that editors are extremely busy. Expect them to take a few minutes to see your work, not more. They don’t need to see hundreds of photos on many subjects. Show them 20 or 25 photos they will remember and you’ll be much better off.

Notes on technique:
When I am photographing, I often approach my subjects and explain what I am doing, then ask permission to take their picture. In the ideal situation, I will spend hours or days with a subject; they become comfortable with my presence and I can capture what I want. Sometimes I will carry a small album with my pictures, which I will show to people. This helps them to understand who I am and what I’m working on—there is some give and take. People always want to feel that you are not there to exploit them. Be sensitive to this.

In a news situation I never ask permission, nor do I do anything to alter the situation as it is happening. Likewise, if I am on the street and see a moment in time that would be destroyed by my asking permission, I shoot without asking. I feel that this is my art and I have the right to practice it. I do not pay my subjects—it is unethical and makes it impossible for those who come after you to work without paying also.

Notes on equipment:

There is no magic camera that will make you take great pictures. Use what works for you. Develop a system that is reliable and that you are comfortable with. Never, under any circumstances, go on a major assignment with brand new equipment that you have not used. I don’t care if it is the latest and greatest. Often there will be glitches and growing pains, you don’t want these when you’re under the gun.

For two decades I used primarily Leica rangefinders. I’m now doing a lot of work with Canon digital EOS models, mostly a 5D and a 24-70 zoom lens. In Africa, where I’m based, I always have a Hasselblad for portraits and usually a Leica as well. I still believe in film but have to acknowledge that for a newspaper photographer, it is impractical at best.

I’m a bit of a “techie,” I carry a lot of gear when doing long assignments and am always experimenting with some new piece that will give me an edge. I know photographers far better than me that walk around with one battered body and a single lens and do great work. I hate flash and avoid it at all cost. Other photographers who I admire shoot with flash all the time. There is no right way to do it. I would say that a low light lens, preferably a wide-angle f1.4, or at least an f2, is a good investment. I shoot at night frequently, and here in Baghdad I am out with soldiers on night raids inside homes—flash is out of the question.

There are exceptions to what I wrote above: in a combat situation, I do not carry a lot of gear. Usually one camera and one lens. Under fire is not a time to be fumbling with gear. Shoot what you can with what you have.

Man Utd vs Malaysia XI

Manchester United won on the 1st game game with the Malaysia XI as the new signing player Michael Owen scored the late winning game after both team were tied 2-2. Manchester United earlier goal were produced by Wayne Rooney and Nani while both Malaysia XI goals scored by the Selangor team captain Amri Yahyah, on the 18th July 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

While in the 2nd game, Manchester United scored 2 and Malaysia 0 as the team continue their pre season tour, on the 20th of July 2009. Michael Owen and Frederico Macheda put their name on the scoresheet for Manchester United after scored each goal. Kali ni i got an assignment to shoot Man Utd squad kat bukit jalil. Sebenarnya untuk 3 agency yang berlainan tetapi disebabkan Bomb meletup kat Jakarta, so salah satu agency terpaksa cancel sbb mereka perlukan gambar2 di Jakarta lebih banyak. Agak frustated tetapi rezeki tu ada di mana2 kan yang penting kena usaha lebih jer.
1st session on training agak menggemuruhkan diri ku ini, sbb 1st time nampak the squad keluar padang werghh! live n exclusive!! ya dat is the right words to say! kaki pun agak menggigil2.. and the fans sngat cool! siap ade yg buat mexiacan wave.. jerit2 mcm nk histeria! wahh dasyat gilerrr.. tgh shooot2 nampak zayd and bangi geng, qayyum pun ade kekeke... thnx lah sbb amik gmbr aku hee~ :p aku gune gmbr ko bubuh kat sini ya bro! tq2

World Ijtema Tabligh 2009, Malaysia

I have been witnessing World Ijtema Tabligh 2009 in Malaysia (the second largest Islamic congregation after Hajj in Mecca). The peoples are from all around the world and the Khitta (shelter) are so huge. I have to be truth that i was lost in that place. I met some people who have spoke to me about Islam, Iman, Illah and suddenly so many things are wondering/thinking/playing in my head. Subhanallah...

BBC calls it Bangladesh Muslim Festival which is incorrect as it is no festival. And what would these 2 million people do for three days? June Vacation

Okay lets talk about a vacation. Memang dah jadi lumrah, kita lebih suka pergi bercuti, berlibur dan berjalan-jalan daripada bekerja di office so untuk bulan June kali ini, i chose east coast and Terengganu as my destination. Sebenarny ini adalah part of my goal to travel each place in a month. Start dari, January - China, Feb - Bali, March - Batu Pahat, April - Singapore, May - kL (have to say that i went to KLCC bout 4 times in a week, thnx to the free parking!! haha) and finally June - T'ganu.

Trip to Terengganu adalah di antara trip yang agak best sebab i went to Pulau Kapas and end up staying at the best chalet ever called QIMI CHALET. I've to say that i'd fell in love with the chalet, the deco, the beach, the peoples and last is the pondok wahh!! sangat bes untuk tido di waktu siang sambil ditemani angin2 yang bertiup kencang tapi masih still sopan haha..

erkk!! ape lagi yer... ermmm

Rocky Mountain News: A sad ending for an award winning newspaper

Fifty-five-days shy of turning 150 years old, the Rocky Mountain News printed its last edition on February 27, 2009. Falling to the victim of the US economic downturn, Rocky Mountain News owner, Scripps Interactive Newspapers Group, had finally decided that the award winning paper had to go after being put up for sale since December 2008 but without success. The paper and the website showed nothing but first class reporting and design and are sources of inspiration for all of us at Panna Institute.

I had the pleasure of meeting photographer Todd Heisler in Amsterdam who in 2006 had won the 1st prize story in the World Press Photo contest by following a deceased Marine returning home to Colorado and to his wife. An excellent photo story for such an important event and one that is the signature of the editorial team at Rocky Mountain News.

We are all saddened by this great lost. We wish all of the former staff of the Rocky Mountain News farewell and our prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

While i googl-ing a news from the other country agency, i found a documentary movie from Burma (Myanmar). For those who are remember a story 'bout a photojournalist from Japan that been shot by a junta soldier u might want to watch this. The best thing bout this is that they dont even need a high tech video recorder nor a darn pretty actress but as its a documentary it will tell everything. Enjoy!

A film about underground reporters who risk their lives to document political repression in Burma has turned out to be the big winner at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in the southeastern U.S. state of North Carolina.

Another must see movie for photojournalist out there....

Malin Akerman, Ryan Phillippe and Taylor Kitsch – soon to be seen as Gambit in the forthcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine – have signed on to star in the indie drama, The Bang Bang Club.

The Bang Bang Club was a group of four South African combat photographers who became renowned for their stark depictions of violence during the last days of apartheid.

The photographers were Kevin Carter, Ken Oosterbroek, Greg Marinovich, and Joao Silva. Only Marinovich and Silva are still alive today – Oosterbroek was killed by friendly fire in 1994, while Carter committed suicide in July of that same year, shortly after receiving the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography.

In fact, Marinovich and Silva wrote the memoir, on which The Bang Bang Club will be based, with South African documentarian Steven Silver writing and directing. Filming will start next month on location in and around Johannesburg.

Phillippe will play Marinovich, while Kitsch will play Carter, who was, of course, the subject of a song on the Manic Street Preachers’ 1996 album,Everything Must Go (“Hi, Time Magazine/Hi, Pulitzer Prize…”).

Akerman, commendably going down the indie route when she could reasonably be expected to nab another blockbuster after Watchmen’s success, will play a photo editor who dealt with the Club.

We have to say that this sounds very intriguing, and could be a dark horse for Oscar when the time comes. For more on The Bang Bang Club, the memoir – full title, The Bang Bang Club: Snapshots From A Hidden War – is available online.

Werghhh.. dah lama aku x update blog ni. so untuk entry kali ni aku nk kongsi gambar2 yang sempat aku shoot semasa di Bali. Sememangnya aku amatlah sangat malas untuk mengeluarkan kamera untuk melakukan aktiviti2 merakam sejarah ketika di sana. Ini semua kerana angkara akiviti bermain ombak bersama 'papan serping' yang aku buat selama 2 hari pertama di sana. Capek nya memang lah tidak dapat dibayangkan. Main surfing 2 jam lepas tu aku bantai tido 4 jam wahaha.. dah dkat2 senja baru aku sedar balik. Perghh memamg syok tido dalam bilik aircond lak tu.. hari ke3 aku pegi jalan2 dengan supir wayan. bayar 300k so dia bawak pi jalan pi tampaksiring.. sukawati.. uluwatu.. dan juga tempat mengurut kaki hehe.. sehari gak lah aku berjalan.. erm bukan jalan naik van sebenarnya hihii... best giler shopping kat sukawati dpt gak lah tshirt dlm 10 helai. sehelai 6 ringgit jer tapi kualiti not bad. hari ke4 aku jus lepak2 kat pantai jer pi buat body massage kat kedai Ketut (ni name dia ni) badan aku masih sengal2 lagi... malam aku pi lepak dengan jaki lak di suatu kawasan rahsia.. hhaaha.. hari ke5 aku dah kena balik kL tp flight kul 1350 so aritu aku bangun awal gliler.. pukul 9 aku dah siap2 nak kluar dah.. pi jalan ke arah matahari (erkk.. nama shopping complex ni) plan aku nk cari sesuatu sebab butik2 kat situ agak murah gak barang2 dia compare dengan kL. so aku dapat membeli sesuatu dengan bantuan kad hutang sebab duit indo semua dah nk abis.. cukup2 untuk beli dvd dengan buat bayar ojek(texi motor) ke airport jer nanti. nasib baik aku amik ojek kalau aku amik supir mau aku kena tinggal kat tengah jalan sebab duit aku memang ngam2 abis lepas aku bayar ojek tu... huhu ~~ sampai airport cek in.. cek itu cek ini.. belt lak kena bukak leceh tul nasib baik seluar aku mampu bertahan di pinggang kalau tidak...... seramm wey!!. dalam flight aku duk tepi tingkap werrghhh!! terperangkap aku.. nak kluar susah dah xleh nak tukar2 seat macam aritu oleh itu aku mngambil keputusan untuk meniduri diri selepas membaca 2 para novel on the road yg tak abis2 lagi sampai ke arini.. hehe aku kena cukup rehat sbb malam tu aku kena masuk keje night shift lak so dari lcct aku amik kete kat opis lame kat academy airasia sambil mengelakkan diri dari berjumpe mak kep (bos lame aku) wahahaha dan terus maju ke subang untuk bekerja pulakk.. sungguh meriah rasanye sbb off day aku selama 4 hari ni.. kalau off day aku 8 hari?? ke mana lah pulak aku nk pegi yer hmmm... ??

aku bercuti lagi.. kali ni pegi ke Bali lak..

memang xder plan nak pegi mane2 sbnarnya.. tetapi disebabkan oleh kerana 'racun' tiket rm9 yang AirAsia offer tu membuatkan aku tak boleh nak menolak ditambah pulak dengan offday aku selama 4 hari tu.. so total tiket yang aku kena bayar rm98 termasuk tax dan cek in bag. tax nk kluar dari sane dlm 150,000rp itu kena bayar cash lak..

dekat seminggu gak aku survey nk pegi mana nak buat ape..

hari-hari aku cek dalam internet nak stay kat mane hotel mane yang best yang mane yang paling murah.. tapi disebabkan aku semakin hari semakin kompius so aku nekad. aku nak redah jer.. haha

tunggukan kemunculan ku di tanah air nanti.. :D

Last spring Anthony Suau pleaded with Time magazine – where he's been a contract photographer for 20 years – to publish his photo essay on the economic crisis in Cleveland, Ohio.

"When I arrived there I was in shock," Suau recalls. "There was almost not a single street in Cleveland that didn't have a house that was boarded up because of a foreclosure." He compared the scene to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Time decided not to print the story, and Suau's pictures ran only on Time.com, where it drew little attention in the U.S. – until today, when one of Suau's Cleveland pictures won the World Press Photo of the Year award.

In an interview shortly after the award was announced, Suau said he worries the economic crisis may leave him having to find another job or leave the home he just purchased for his family.

The last two months have been especially bad, Suau says. He hasn't had a single assignment except for covering the presidential inauguration for a Japanese book publisher.

"If the situation continues like it has in the last two months, down the road I would be in danger," Suau says. "Do I have to get another job to do something? I don't know. I may have to do something else besides photography."

Suau has covered conflicts and human crises around the world and has won two World Press Photo of the Year awards, the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography, and numerous other recognitions.

He shot the Cleveland story in March, a few months before the devastating impact of the mortgage crisis was fully understood. It would take until September, when investment banks began to fail and financial markets to begin to fall, for most Americans to take notice.

Last year Suau took one trip to Cleveland for three days, then requested that Time send him back for a longer return trip. On the second trip he arranged a two-day ride-along with a sheriff's detective who was handling evictions.

"I wanted so badly for that series of pictures to be published in the magazine, and everywhere people could see it," Suau says. Though it never ran in print in the U.S., the project had more luck with secondary sales in Europe, where several magazines published it.

Suau says he was busy with assignment work last year and saw his archive sales go up in the fall as magazines turned to stock as a less-expensive alternative to assignments. Then business dried up.

At least three of the editors Suau worked with at Time have since left the magazine, some taking buyout packages, he says. (Time director of photography MaryAnne Golon was one of them; she is also the jury chair of this year's World Press Photo competition.)

Suau says he and other documentary photographers want to work on stories about the human impact of the economic crisis, but the decline in newspapers and magazines has made it hard to find funding. "It's incredibly frustrating for photographers in America," he says. "We need to be working."

Suau recently purchased a home in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lives with his wife and eight-year-old daughter. "We live in a nice area," Suau says, adding, "I know what's happening to me, but what's happening to other people is worse."

Suau shot his World Press Photo of the Year on March 26, near the end of his two-day ride-along with a sheriff's officer. He used a Leica film camera loaded with Kodak TRI-X black-and-white film.

In the picture, Detective Robert Cole of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department aims a gun into a room as he clears a house for eviction. An elderly couple had lived there and the husband had apparently died, Suau says.

There were no people in the house at the time, and the destruction seen in the photo was from vandals, who loot abandoned homes for valuable property.

Suau says there was evidence vandals had taken a weapon from this home; ammunition and a holster were left behind.

"Every second I was there [in Cleveland], I was walking into another moment of human tragedy," Suau says. "I worked from morning to night in that place and there was never a moment's rest."

Suau said the project "shook me to my core" and reminded him of the destruction he witnessed in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

"Inner city Cleveland is pretty much at this point closed down," he says. "If that was the future of other cities in the United States on a large scale, then where are we going?"

Tuesday 22 dec 08 went to hk with Simon from Shenzhen. We took metro train from quaichengdong to luohu. at luo hu kami pergi train station yang lain sebab nak beli my tiket to Shanghai. tak paham apa yang mereka cakap tapi yang pasti kami beli tiket to shanghai and the price is around 400rmb. from there we walked for a few minutes hingga sampai ke china imigresen untuk ke Hong Kong. Jalan-jalan lagi then jumpe Hong Kong imigresen pulak. at this check point si Simon dah suke sbb he can start speaks kantonis tp wa tau 'hai mei' jer huhuhu.... Settle semua cek pasport dan dah dapat cop mohor dari kerajaan Hong Kong kami pun naik MTR ke MongKoK station. Sampai sana memang syokk... best betul sbb rasa macam dalam cerita Mude&bahaya then nampak polis traffic pulak... perghhh mcm cerita police academy.. Jalan2 dpat beli cap NG then sempat ke masjid hk. solat jemaah zuhor kat sane sambil2 cari kedai pakistan. after that naik MTR lagi pergi ke island pulak. kat island kami ke The Peak by tram. sangat tinggi dan sejuk. sempat beli2 tshirt hk. agak murah jugak 100hk dapat 3 helai dlm rm16 satu helai camtu. kami tinggalkan islan dalam pukul 8 macam tu. naik feri ke mainland. lawa memang lawa. hk mmg banyak bangunan tinggi2 yang bercahaya so sangat cantik lah.
jalan2 lagi pusing2.. sampai pusing2 kat jalan yang sama... then pukul 1030 we naik MTR balik ke mainland china. smpai LuHuo dah pukul 2330... metro train pun dah tutup. banyak pulak texi sapu offer ajak naik dengan mereka tapi kami ambil taxi merah. Penatt woo... sampai rumah pun dalam pukul 12 tgh malam camtu.... Penat mmg penat tapi syokkk woo.. "wo rindu hk" huhu....

A. The most important work a young photographer can do is existential. You must figure out what kind of photographer you want to be, what do you want to say and how are you going to do it better than others have done before you.

Recognize that the career of a photojournalist is a difficult one personally, so you must love what you are doing. Be certain of your mission, but be prepared to constantly grow. Work hard, very hard. Be forever curious, persistent and gracious. When people let you into their lives, realize that it is a gift.

Don't let technical issues come between you and a great picture; make it second nature. Recognize the role of aesthetics in storytelling. And shoot, shoot and shoot some more".

Minggu lepas 16hb Nov, aku dapat peluang untuk folow azrul dari berita Harian untuk jadi his photographer for feature dalam paper. Pagi2 lagi aku dah tercegat kat depan pagar NSTP menunggu Sam datang ambik. Kami bertolak dari kL dlm pukul 11 lebih bersama-sama dengan team media yang lain. Di dalam van kami ialah Azrul dari BH, Abg din aka Din Beramboi dan Ida dari Bernama, Abg Zaidi dari Nstp dan juga Abg Lang stringer untuk tv3 yang base di Ipoh yang dipandu oleh Sam dari Emkay. Krew RTM dari team Panorama di dalam van satu lagi. Kami stay di Royal Belum Resort selama 3 hari 2 malam dan memang ia menyeronokkan serta sentiasa kekenyangan haha..

Last saturday bersamaan dengan 1st Nov 2008, satu photomarathon telah diadakan di berjaya time square Kuala Lumpur. Lebih seribu orang peserta telah mengambil bahagian yang dibahagikan kepada 2 iaiatu kategori 'compact' dan 'dslr'. Aku sampai kat sana dalam pukul 7.30 dengan chrome. Sampai di sana dah beribu orang menunggu.. perghh kena beratur panjang lak.. entah ape nasib kami, barisan yang kami q tiba-tiba telah menjadi pendek... wahahaa.. memang agak choas pagi tu... habis mamat-mamat canon yang jaga kat situ kena maki dengan dengan para peserta yang sememangnya sudah 'panas' untuk memulakan aksi mereka.

Satu pengalaman yang agak menarik. Salah satu pesanan yang diberi oleh juri semasa menunggu result adalah ; mesti fahamkan yang penganjur inginkan dan di tambah lagi sebagai seorang photographer, seseorang itu perlu memahami kehendak client dan perlu menyampaikan sebaik-baiknya. Inilah kekurangan aku.. Its okay, harap nex year ada lagi.

Iman Hot Dip Steamboat

Minggu lepas aku telah dijemput oleh owner Iman hot dip steamboat iaitu Miss Aishah Lim untuk mengadakan photoshoot session untuk makanan2 steamboat yang akan dijual. Sesi tersebut telah berlaku selama lebih kurang 2 jam dan disambung pula dengan sesi menghabiskan makanan yang telah dishoot tadi. Agak mencabar memandangkan ini adalah pertama kali aku melakukan food photography ni. Dengan peralatan yang agak minima kami telah berjaya mengadakan sesi tersebut di dalam pejabat yang terletak di dalam rumah beliau. Mengikut perancangan, Iman Hot Dip akan beroperasi di Seksyen 7 Shah Alam pada bulan November akan datang. Semoga perniagaan ini akan dapat beroperasi dengan lancar dan maju jaya. Insyaallah...

ia adalah yashica elector 35 gtn... rangefinder yang di warisi dari abah aku.. bila main film ni kena lebih berhati2 dalam pemilihan subjek, composition.. timing.. yerlah layan camera film.. rugi lah xleh nak delete2.. hehe ape yang best pasal rangefinder ni adalah sbb dia ala2 camera leica dan golongan2 rangefinder yang lain yang banyk digunakan ketika zaman perang dulu-dulu.

so everytime nk shoot terasa mcm zaman perang gak lah.. hihi..

x dapat bayangkan bagaimana photog2 tegar pada zaman dulu spt sempat shoot gambar2 yang setimm dengan mnggunakan camera manual focus ni.

skrang ni klu gune dslr nk guna manual pun dah mngeluh.. asik lari focus jer.. tp mereka berjaya merakam gmbr2 yg setimm pada zaman perang tersebut dan gambar2 tersebut telah menjadi rujukan kepada photog2 pada zaman ini. kalau ade rezeki nak cari camera film yang lain lak.. hihii... :-D ini ade a few pics yang dah slamat cuci dan discan kemudiannya..

Adam's Birthday at Tok Wan's house

Small bitrhday party but its more than enough for him enjoying celebrate his own party. Adam Harith turned to 4 years old on 14 August 2008. Masa mula-mula lahir Adam ni kena sakit kuning so badan dia dah macam kena bubuh dengan kunyit dah. Mata pun kuning2 sket. Macam-macam terjadi kat Adam ni tapi dia managed to stay alive sampai lah ke hari ini. Sekarang ni Adam dah semakin sihat tapi cuma ada semput sket or athma. So setiap kali main dengan his best cousin Danial, Adam akan cepat penat and mula lah batuk-batuk. Adam likes Ultraman so do Danial. Everytime ada ultraman kat tv memang orang lain tak dapat nak tengok cerita lain dah. So for his 4th birthday, dia minta gambar Ultraman on his cake tapi tak dapat. Yang ada gambar Batman jerr... tp dia tak kisah sebab yang penting they are heroes like Adam want to be. So Adam, achu wish you a happy birthday and be a good boy. Enjoy..

Penderitaan hidup manusia di muka bumi ini adakalanya tidak terbatas di dunia sahaja, pembalasan serta hukuman akan sentiasa bersama andai jalan hidup diri sebelum ini tidak di landasan yang benar, melanggar segala larangan Allah sudah tentu menerima balasan setimpal apabila seseorang itu mati, begitulah yang terjadi kepada Iman, Zarina, Senin, Pak Hamid dan Kartina yang digambarkan mempunyai dosa-dosa besar tanpa sempat bertaubat. Kisah ini menyatukan mereka kembali di dalam bilik mayat sebuah hospitsal. Masing-masing menceritakan apa yang pernah terjadi semasa hidup. Namun sebenarnya di antara mereka ini mempunyai pertalian dan hubungan yang tidak disangka.

Teater Muzikal Ibu Zain adalah cerita sebenar mengenai Tan Sri Hajjah Zainon bte Munshi Sulaiman atau dikenali sebagai Ibu Zain srikandi Tanah Melayu di dalam bidang politik dan terutamnya pendidikan. Dilahirkan di Nyalas, Melaka pada 22 Jan 1903, beliau telah banyak berjasa pada negara terutama dalam bidang pendidikan di mana beliau telah menjadi guru seawal usia 19 tahun dan mengetuai Persatuan Perguruan Wanita Melayu yang telah diasaskannya sendiri padatahun 1930. Selain itu, beliau juga terlibat dalam penubuhan UMNO pada 1946 di Johor Bahru dan menjadi Ketua Kaum Ibu selama 4 tahun. Beliau juga menjadi wakil rakyat hanya selama 1 penggal kerana sikap lantang beliau yang berani bersuara yang tidak disukai beberapa pihak.

Beliau meninggal pada 2 April 1989 di Muar dan dikebumikan di Johor bahru. (Adli Ghazali/Malaysia)

'Ia' membelah angkasa Kuala Lumpur.

Foto ini agak lama, di shoot pada bulan Februari 2008. Ini adalah pertama kali aku menaiki kapal terbang kecik, bersama-sama dengan Jega (my colleague) dan Kumar yang sedang dalam mengumpul 'hours' sebelum menjadi seorang 'instructor'. Cuaca pada petang itu agak berjerebu dan kami hanya berada pada ketinggian 1 ribu kaki dari paras laut untuk bersiar-siar di atas sana. Selepas terbang selama 20 minit dan membuat 2 kali 'touch & go' kami mendarat dengan selamatnya walaupun terdapat ancaman daripada 'black crow'.

Gambar-gambar ini dah lama dalam simpanan semasa aku dlm flight nk pegi knduri kahwin sahabat aku "ady' kat Sandakan, Sabah. Flight A320 telah delay selama 45 mins kerana seorang penumpang x boarding, beg dia jer yang naik.. tak tahulah kat mana dia dah sampai. Disebabkan flight delay so aku telah mngambil kesempatan untuk shoot a few pics dalam cockpit dan cabin. Selepas berada di udara selama 2 jam setengah, akhirnya kapalterbang ini telah selamat mendarat di Sandakan Airport.

Thimiti or FireWalk Festival is celebrated in honour of Draupadi, the main character of the epic Mahabharatta, who is the wife of the five Pandauvas brothers. Draupadi walks on fire to prove her virtuosity and chastity. Like her devotees, if they are pure as Draupadi, they will cross the coal unharmed.
